Why a Lock Change After a Break-In Cannot Wait
When a burglar has forced or manipulated a lock, that lock is compromised in ways that are not always visible. A euro cylinder that has been snapped, a 5-lever mortice deadlock whose bolt has been driven back by force, or a nightlatch whose latch has been shimmed — each of these leaves your door in a state where it can be opened again far more easily than before. Many insurers covering properties in Harrow will also ask, when you make a claim, whether the locks were changed after the incident. Failing to do so can complicate the claims process considerably.
An attempted entry — where a burglar tried but did not succeed — matters just as much. A damaged cylinder, a bent door handle, or a scratched and stressed multipoint lock mechanism on a uPVC door can mean the lock no longer engages fully. Andrew will assess the door on arrival, explain exactly what needs replacing and why, and confirm an exact price before any work begins. Nothing is started without your approval.
